Photographing an event at 8am on a snowy day is not necessarily my idea of a good time but fortunately the annual Advertising Club of New York's Out of Home Awards conference is a real eye-opener.
Generally, hearing the words "Out of Home Advertising" motivates big yawns at the thought of HiWay billboards and so you go take a nap. But that's SO old school thinking. With the incredibly dynamic creative concepts, designs, manufacturing, and production techniques such as 3D projections, in tandem with mobile and web tie-ins, being staged all over the world, this is an incredibly exciting and growing field. Take the ultra-cool and fun new model reveals as shown in a fun case study presentation by MINI's head of marketing, Tom Salkowsky -- the new MINI Coupe mounted on back of a full-size shuttle-like rocket in downtown Manhattan, complete with 4 astronauts traipsing around the City leading tourists to the show.
And to top it off, the OOH Trophies are REALLY cool!
